Portuguese Company to Service French Air Force Planes
By AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, LISBON

The French defense ministry has awarded Portuguese flag carrier TAP-Portugal
a contract worth 120 million euros ($146 million) to provide logistics
support and maintenance for its aircraft.
TAP's engineering and maintenance department will have technical facilities
at Paris's main international airport at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle to look
after two long-haul Airbus A340-200 planes, the airline said in a statement.

The carrier bid for the contract together with INGEPAR, a subsidiary of
French savings bank Caisse d'Epargne which is in charge of acquiring,
financing and leasing French air force planes, it added.

The contract to look after the planes will last between five to 10 years.
TAP-Portugal, a member of the Star Alliance, has a total fleet of 40
aircraft that fly to 42 destinations in 25 countries.
Last year the airline set a new passenger record, carrying more than six
million people.
